Spring is Plein Air Sketch Time

With the weather improving, its time to go out and enjoy nature.  I love sketching on-site with simple, portable supplies.

What I take -

     -  5" x 8" watercolor sketchbook.  There are many on the market, but I prefer one with a spiral binding because it sits open on my lap so nicely.

     - In a quart-size zip-lock bag, a travel-size watercolor kit, one or two brushes, a waterproof pen, a pencil, a kneaded eraser, and a small container for water. I don't carry water unless I know it won't be available.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        - A pocket camera

Monet's House at Giverny, September 2016

With such minimal supplies, I can enjoy myself, paint a while, visit a restaurant or museum, and I am not burdened with heavy, cumbersome equipment.    If I am not able to complete a sketch on the spot, I can take a snapshot and finish up later.

If you are interested in learning to create your own sketchbook diary, join me in Spain in September.   You'll find details under the Classes and Workshops tab.

Another delightful piece! I don't have any names that fly in my mind yet. Love the hues as well. When I take a gander at it I feel that every one of my faculties are influenced. Notice, locate, sensations, sound... You have caught the substance of seeing this amazing spot.
